SMJGA FAQ Sheet
- 1. What does my $44 membership fee get me?
- Access to area Jr. Tournament Schedule and registration.
- Access to 2 Day Championship Tournament entry fee reduced to $20
- A gift of SMJGA Logo Merchandise presented at the Championship Tournament at Rivercut.
- Access to yearly participation and point total leader contests
- Player profile and statistics through the SMJGA website member account
- 2. Do I have to register and pay the $44 membership fee every year?
- Yes
- 3. Does SMJGA administer or host all the Jr. Tournaments?
- No. The only tournament SMJGA administers/hosts is the SMJGA Championship Tournament. All the regular season tournaments are administered by the Club/Course that hosts the tournament.
- 4. How much does each tournament cost?
- Each course sets their own price
- 5. How do I pay for each tournament?
- Follow instructions on the detail page for each tournament.
- All tournaments can be paid through the SMJGA website. Follow instructions on each tournaments detail page.
- 6. Does SMJGA guarantee me a spot in each tournament?
- No. Each host facility has limits, and guidelines for each event.
- 7. How do I qualify for the SMJGA Championship Tournament?
- You must compete in at least 2 of the events prior to the SMJGA Championship Tournament. There will be a cut for the second day of play. Top 10 scores and ties will qualify for the second day of play. You must also pass the Rules test for your age division
- 8. Age divisions are as follows:

NOTE: 18 yr olds can only play the summer of their senior year, and cannot have attended College.
NOTE: The number of holes played for age divisions 15 and under will be determined by each course. The determination will be based on length and difficulty of the course being played.
NOTE: Players are not allowed to have caddies, or coaching from parents or spectators. (except in the 9U age groups....parents are allowed to help/caddie for the player) Exceptions are sometimes made by the tournament committee at each course, just like a local rules are established that override any USGA rule. If caddies are allowed at any event it will be stated on the information section of the tournament sign up
9. What age group do I play in if my birthday is during the golf season?

- You play in whatever age division you would fall into on September 1st of the current season (Example: if you are 13 years old on Sept. 1st of this year then you would play in the 13-15 age group)
- 10. How does the Point System work?

- You will receive points based on your overall place in each event (not just within SMJGA members) as follows:

- 11. What are the points for?
- Points will be accumulated throughout the season. The Player with the most points in their age division will be the Point Total Leader Champion! A special trophy will be sent to each Champion after the season ends.
- Points will also be used to determine the alternate spots on the Annual Horton Smith Cup Team when available. Boys & Girls
